This is such wonderful news! It's just what we've all been praying for.

John, you've told us the story of your journey so well, with simple, straightforward facts, and enough heart to capture our hearts. Blessings to both you and Pam. You are fortunate to have each other.. both such good life partners and wonderful human beings!

I know it must feel marvelous to be able to get back to normal living again, though I doubt it will ever be taken for granted. Each day is such a blessing no matter what it holds, and your days through this battle to regain Pam's health have helped us all to remember that.

Thanks for mentioning the Gift of Life - A Tribute to Pam and John Derry campaign, and for including the link in your message. It's been pure pleasure to have found a way to help, work with Karen Bonaker, and so touching to find people who inspired the campaign/contest idea and want to join Karen and me in the effort. Contributions have slowed down lately, possibly due to the financial crisis we're all going through, but we expect that to change for the better so don't be surprised if you find more purchases coming from us through Karen's PayPal account.

Just to Pam:

Hi Pam,

You don't know me, but it feels like I've come to know you a little through John's Blog posts. From here, it looks to me like you're a courageous lady, someone I respect very much, and would like to know better.

My prayers are with you and Pam. I have been in a similar position with my husband and brain cancer, which he lost his battle with after 10 years. Without a donor for some of his surgery, he would not have lived a year so I know the importance of donors. God bless you both. Ann Roberts

I am so happy to read the good news, you've had your bone marrow transplant, Pam, and are surely getting the best of care, both medical care and loving care from John.

Yes, miracles never cease. There are good people in this world, and I'd like to thank the donor too, for giving you this gift, Pam and John.

John, I am attempting this tutorial, using Painter X, and cannot for the life of me find a "Smart Blur" filter, although there IS such a filter in PHOTOSHOP...You do not mention doing any of your prelim. work in PS, though, so I am confused...

Also, what exactly do you mean by "scrubbing" to add rough brush strokes? What type of brush? A blender? Acrylic? Do you duplicate the layer in case you don't like the scrubbing? What type of brushes do you use for the addition of textural elements?

This is a beautiful example, but your explanation of your workflow is not up to your usual informative standard...Your Liquid Ink tutorial is still my favorite for clear-cut explanations...

+Thank you for the impasto varnish file. I also want to say I hope your wife pulls through this difficult time. Tell her to keep her hopes high because if she gets very depressed it will effect her immune system by lowering it and her body will have a harder time to fight this disease. I have seen for myself a few friends with the same sickness and are still here with us since the first day of knowing they have this disease and its been over 20 years and they are still working full time and doing all the activities they love . So there is still hope there!! Tell her to not give up and keep fighting. Sincerely Theresa
