That's because QuickLook has two modes. A super-fast mode (e.g. in CoverFlow) and a detailed mode (e.g. when you press the space bar to view the file).

In the first mode, we have to give QuickLook an image as fast as possible. That image is the embedded Painter thumbnail, which is 120x120. In a large window, this will look pixelated.

In the second mode, we have more time and can render each layer properly (except text and shapes, for technical reasons, sorry!).

Apple may have changed the behavior of QuickLook between 10.5.0 and 10.5.2. I seem to recall that images in CoverFlow were first pixelated (the small thumbnail was blown up), and then correct (the large image was scaled down). They may have taken out the second step as it was taking too long on most pictures...

I'm using Mozilla Firefox and do see the formatting bar when in the message editing window for my Blog. I do not see it when posting text to my Bio but have found a solution (at least for me), that may also be a solution for others.

Just sent you an e-mail about it.

David,

If Steve can find time to test my method, I'll share it with everyone, or Steve can share it if he wants to. Until then, we'll have to wait.

In the meantime, if you download Mozilla Firefox, you may see what I see... the formatting bar in the Blog message editing window.

Hope that makes sense.

P.S. I don't see any formatting options when typing this message and only hope it's possible to edit these messages posted to another person's Blog.

P.P.S. What the heck is the Remember Me? box below this window and above the Submit button for?

Jin
