Painter Essentials has stopped working

I installed Corel Painter Essentials 5 about a month ago and it worked fine. In the past few days it wouldn't start; I get the message "Painter Essentials has stopped working." I uninstalled it and reinstalled from a fresh download, entered my key, but it won't open (I get the first screen and then the error message). I need this product to work now; I will be teaching it to a Lifelong Learning group.

  • Hold the shift key while restarting. If that doesn't work, uninstall and reinstall again. If no luck, call Corel tech support. Hope it works -- it usually does (and this is the first thing you should try if it happens again somewhere down the road -- before uninstalling). Good luck!

    I forgot to tell you that you will have to reload your palettes and workspace, etc. It's a chore, but it's better than not having your program. Good luck!

    Yes, thank you. I'm aware of that. I'm actually a Painter 15 user, but am planning to teach Painter Essentials first and hopefully we'll gravitate to Painter (where we'll all be learning together). Thanks for your help.
