Hey fellow Painter Lovers!
I just wanted to inform you all of the following:
I have finally assembled my new pc.
I was under quite some pressure from the Mss to keep the budget as low as possible, so I had to find the ultimate compromis between performance and budget, while keeping upgrading in the future as easy as possible. I believe I have found this config to be quite satisfying:

I wanted to test both my Painter IX.5 (I ran on WinXP 32bit) and Painter 11 in a 64bit environment, so for me Win 7 RC came out at the perfect moment.
First step was to install Painter IX.5 and getting it running.
This took me a while! After installing it would give me a message like "You don't have the rights to run this software. Please activate the program or run it as an administrator. Painter would not give me the Activation Window, so I couldn't activate it, even though I was an admin.
After a searching a long time on the internet and trying stuff out in Windows 7, I found the solution. Since Painter is a native 32bit application, I needed to tell Windows 7 64bit this. Windows 7 has this built in monitor that keeps track of older software being installed, so I got an alert that Painter IX.5 is a 32bit application and was asked if I wanted Win7 to simulate the environment in which it was running fine.
So then I had to ask some questions like which OS I used Painter on etc and after reboot, IT WORKED! And it seems a hell of a lot faster than it was on my P4 2800 too (from what I've seen sofar)! I feel like a child getting a balloon :)
So, I'm not sure if all you Vista 64bit users have this WinXP compatibility mode, but if you have, try running Painter like that, it might get rid of a lot of bugs, inert reaction, cpu overload etc.
I do have one question though.
Do you think it would be ok to install Painter 11 alongside my Painter IX.5 installation on Win 7 RC 64bit? I wouldn't want to screw up my Painter IX.5, which runs fine (although some bugs might show up once I use it for a bit longer).
Anyway, just wanted to post this here so everyone knows that upgrading a system to a config that has no problems running Painter IX.5 in a 64bit environment is actually possible (with some patience and determination).
Hope y'all have a nice day!
