    Trial version

After reading all the posts about problems with getting this software to run, I really don't want to potentially gum up my registry; however, the software intrigues me.  Can someone tell me who has it and likes it if there are tutorials or user guides with it?  I would like to try it but am uncertain.  Thanks for your help.

    Hi jojo,

    Welcome to The PainterFactory!

I had the trial version of Sketch Pad installed briefly, not long enough to really give it a thorough testing. Then I had to remove it from my computer, knowing I would not need it anyway since I have 7 full Painter versions installed on this computer with plenty of everything to keep me happy for a long, long time.

Painter 11 has lots of new brush variants, some of which (unless I'm mistaken) are similar to, or the same as, those available in Sketch Pad.

Some members do have Sketch Pad installed and maybe a few will stop by and give you more feedback.

    Cheers!

    Re: Trial version

I was personally disappointed with the software. Maybe it's just me, but it freezes up very often [like every time I try to close it and when I'm in the middle of drawing] and it doesn't do much for the price they're selling it at.  You could get another program just like it but for 1/5 the price! It's layout and function are the same. And the other program doesn't freeze up at all.

     Berry,

Thanks for sharing that, although I don't know which other software you are alluding to but I understand this is a Corel forum.  I do enjoy Corel's Painter Essentials 4, though.

Thanks for that little tidbit. (: I haven't heard a lot of complaints about Essentials so maybe I'll try it later.

     Berry,

I'm finding out that people (artists) who are really into digital art including paint and photo have a lot of software-Adobe, Corel, ArtRage, Serif. And many have all of those.  I do but I am a beginner and a software junkie :).

I stumbled upon Wacom tablets and in purchasing the Bamboo Fun, I got Adobe Photoshop Elements and Corel Painter Essentials 4 which combined, more than paid for the tablet and pen.  I liked Painter Essentials 4; it has excellent video tutorials and IMHO it is the best software for beginners to digital art.  (ArtRage is in a class all by itself.)  If you purchase Intuous by Wacom, that is where you encounter SketchPad and can choose to download it.
