Hi Jeffery, I love the image hose, my only problem is so often they just did not fit my work. Jinny has a great tutorial in Concept Art that taught me how to create my own nozzles. And I had a lot of fun playing with them, not to mention they were my own creations and fit with my own style of art. Hi syd,

Thanks for adding the link to my tutorial, one guaranteed not to influence your art style, but at least good to explain how to create a Nozzle. ;)

It makes me happy, Syd, to know you've had fun making Nozzles and I had a little bit to do with getting you started.

I'd love to see some things you've done with your Nozzles. (Hint, hint.) ;)

    Hi Inkwolf,

    Good to see  you here!

Your Treasure Nozzle works in Painter X.1 and Painter 5.0.3 so I'd guess it works in all versions in between.

It's an individual Nozzle, RIFF file so that makes it pretty likely it will work in all of those Painter versions.

Loads differently in different Painter versions though.

    Nice Nozzle. Thanks for sharing.

I would love to share them with you Jin! I will have to tell you I spent years trying to figure it out, pouring through the Painter instructions and never getting anywhere. Then you posted the simple instructions and it resonated in me tiny little brain and walah! Mission finally accomplished! I will upload them as soon as I have the time to figure the how of that! Syd

    Re: Image nozel resources?

Well I am having a problem uploading two of my nozzles.  It keeps telling me the file needs to be a giff, jpg etc.  Which they are jpegs.  or is there a difference between jpg and jpeg?  Perhaps someone might have an idea.

On the upside I finally got my avatar uploaded.  Thats a big UP!  I noticed in Resources Mac folks using Safari might lose on capabilities to this site, suggestion was download FireFox for Macs which I did, and was I ever missing a few capabilities on this site.  However I was hoping it might also fix my other issue but it did not.

    Help?

I don't think you can upload nozzles here...just pictures of what you've done with them.  I expect this site is like most message board systems, in that it only allows attachment of web-recognizable graphic images.

EDIT: Okay, just read the second part again.  I don't know--are you sure you saved it as a jpeg and it has the .jpg or .jpeg extension actually on the filename? Because PCs on online programs are really anal about not recognizing stuff without the extension on the name.

(Though I rarely actually use them, nozzles have always been my very favorite thing in Painter, for some reason. :D )

    Re: Image nozel resources?

Before I was using Safari and there is a Glitch with Safari. So following advice to download FireFox I was able to download my avatar. However in uploading my nozzle samples there is no browse button in my "content" selection. Without that I don't think I can upload my nozzle samples. I do not use them often as well, but I too love them. After learning how to make my own they are even more fun to play with.

    Hi Inkwolf,

I was just thinking the same thing as I clicked the link to read this thread tonight. DigArts (Dennis Berkla) not only offers free samples, Dennis offers free tutorials, and the products he sells are beautiful.

Thanks for adding the link to DigArts Software.

    Syd,

You'll find some tutorials in the PainterFactory Help forum that explain:

    • How to Attach Images to Display in Your Messages (upload images to the PainterFactory server)
    • How to Paste the URL to Your Image File Between Image Tags (when the image is located on your own website or on another gallery site that allows remote linking)
    • How to Use a Thumbnail Link to a Larger Image (when you either prefer not to display the larger version here or it's too large to display completely within the widthh of PainterFactory threads)

Individual Nozzles aren't JPG or GIF files, they're saved in Painter's native RIFF files with the RIF extension.

Nozzle libraries have a different name and extension from individual Nozzle files.

For instance, the default Painter Nozzles library file:

Painter IX and earlier versions: Painter.nzl (Windows), Painter Nozzles (Mac)

Painter X and X.1: Painter Nozzles.nozzles (Windows and Mac)

If you want to share an image created with one of your Nozzles, save it in JPG format from Painter, then share it using one of the methods described in the three tutorials I listed above that can be found in the PainterFactory Help forum.

The file extension needs to be JPG (not JPEG) or GIF if you're going to share an image file.

If you want to share the Nozzle file (Painter RIFF file) the extension will be RIF and you'll need to upload it to your own website server, then post the URL to the RIF file in your message. If you prefer, you can ZIP the RIF file, upload it to you own website server, then post the URL to the ZIP file in your message.
