Re: Image nozel resources? Notes from a Mac

There is an anomaly in the Mac with the jpeg and jpg files.  Jpg is correct and what the Painter will append to the file IF you let painter do the appending.  However, when you choose the file type, your choice will say jpeg - no idea why.  I haven't run into trouble with that as I've always let painter append the file type.  There is a box to check at the bottom left to have painter append the file type.

Now there is something weird because it is possible to, say, have a painting in riff and decide to save it as a tiff and, if your forget to put in the correct code, you can have a file that no one can read except painter (that is a riff file with a jpg extension if you mess up).  That is one reason I always let the program fill in the extension code.

Here's where you have to check to append the file at the lower left and you can clearly see the jpeg in the format choice but if you type it in that way, you will have an error.  Gremlins!

Here you can see the discrepancy between the two codes - I have let painter add the code

Meant you'll have a riff file with a tiff extension.

I've downloaded yours.  They're great.  Please make some more?  I've used your space ones a lot.

OK, my thinking is that you can't upload a nozzle here because that is a riff file but you could do a save as of the riff file to a jpg and upload that.  Or, you could show what the nozzle could do on a small image.  All the working nozzles are riffs as far as I know and the ones I've made myself are all riffs.

Hooray! syd was able to upload images!

    Thanks for helping, Inkwolf.

The quoted text below from this message, is now outdated. Please read the new text below the quote for updated info.

Just did a test upload of a ZIP file. It's a custom Paper I made a couple of years ago, and named Jins_Son_of_Sandpaper since I lost the original Jins_Sandpaper. ;)

The link to download it is displayed above this message. In case you can't see it, I've copied the URL to the ZIP file and posted it again below:

Since the ZIP file I uploaded earlier contained only a Windows pre-Painter X Papers library, I've removed that uploaded ZIP file and now replace it with two more:

Windows pre-Painter X version users, please download this ZIP file:

    Jins_Son_of_Sandpaper.PAP.zip

Windows and Mac Painter X and X.1 version users, please download this ZIP file:

    Jins_Son_of_Sandpaper.papers.zip

Yes, you do. I haven't checked to see if you can set this in preferences. I'm now just in the habit of doing that after getting some unexpected and unwanted results. No surprises if you choose do it this way.

    Re: Finally is right!

If any Mac users reading this thread are able to see my ZIP file in the message a couple of posts up, please let us know if you can both see it and download it, then tell us what browser (and version) you're using.

I think syd's trouble is browser related.

Whose file?  Are you using Firefox?  You need to be.  Safari doesn't capture everything from here and I have Safari 3, the newest one.  Have to use Firefox.

    Re: Finally is right!

I saw the zip file on the message and was able to download it.

However, the extension of the files was .PAP which I've never seen before.  Painter X couldn't open it.  Neither could the Mac Graphic Converter  which I use for photography editing and conversion, and that can open just about anything.   I'm using the latest version of Firefox for my browser.

I'm on a recent Intel Mac running OS 10.4.11, the latest version of the Mac Tiger operating system.

Is that a Vista file or something?

I am using FireFox, and am updated on Safari, I was able to download the file but experienced the same issues as you did. I have pretty much the same OS as you do as well.

    Hi,

Sorry. It's a Windows pre-Painter X extension. In older Painter versions, the default Painter Papers library was named Painter.PAP (Windows) and Painter Papers (Mac).

In Painter X, all files are cross platform compatible and now the default Painter Papers library is named Painter Papers.papers on both Windows and Mac.

Try changing the extension from .PAP to .papers  for either platform, Painter X Windows and Painter X Mac and see if that works.

Please let me know how it goes.

    Thanks,

For what it's worth: on a Mac Quicksilver 733mhz running Vista 1.3.2 under Panther X3.4: Saw it, downloaded it, and had no trouble at all bringing it into Painter 9.5 with the Paper Mover. Are all the movers gone from #10? I would miss them...

    Re: Finally is right!

If you had trouble using the ZIP file I uploaded earlier, please check my edited message above, the ninth post up from this one, where I've removed the first ZIP file and added two new ones.

It's explained in that message what they are.
