    Max file size Painter 11

We often have had a problem with the limited file size in Painter X, being approximate 16000 x 16000 - 300 ppi .

Do anyone know if that have changed in Painter 11 ?

The largest canvas I can make in Painter 11 is 16382px X 16382px at 300ppi - not one pixel more. I didn't try painting on it for fear of my computer exploding.

     Thank you.

I was affraid that that it hadn't changed, unfortunate. This is our biggest problem with this otherwise great program.
We have made illustrations in that size, it is slow but it works. If the scrats disk is fast and not the same as were the file are kept, it gives more speed to a big file.

    Hi folks,

I think it's more accurate to say that's the maximum dimension we can use when creating a new Painter Canvas, though the dimension, whether in pixels or inches will affect the file size, especially if the image has multiple Layers.

I don't know how this test will hold up over time, but I noticed when doing some testing once a whlle back that It was possible to add to the Canvas once the original Canvas was created and saved.

My computer didn't explode then, so I tried it again this morning.....

First, I saved the file as it was created.

Then, I used Select > All, Canvas > Canvas Size and added 100 pixels to all four sides.

Last, I used the Paintbucket to fill the border with color and saved the file as a Template

When I tried to open the new Canvas/template, I got the error message "Insufficient Space on disk to open the picture in Painter."

That didn't happen the first time (way back when), though I wouldn't be sirprised if did soon, had I continued.
