Looking to buy a Graphic Tablet?

They go together like peanut butter and jelly, hammer and nails, salt and pepper, Painter and Graphic Tablets.

Over the years I have used everything from a 4x5 Wacom Artz to my current (touch it and you die) Cintiq 21" LCD Tablet.

With that in mind I and created a little page on my website explaining some of the different models, old and new of the Wacom Tablets and what to look for when buying and using.

    David...

Thanks for the info on your web site.

I have an old intuous 2 with serial hookup that I love and have done many illustrations with since around '94 or '95.

The serial hookup is (as you implied) becoming a problem. Because I do some animation stuff and 3D stuff I am beefing up my system to a quad core and will go to Windows XP64 pro (I think you were using Macs... my condolences) to allow accessing up to 4-8 gigs of ram. The old tablet with serial connect is not compatible with that OS, (according to the Wacom site) - and, they say adaptors (serial to USB) are not "supported."

Was wondering if you have any experience with this or advice for work-arounds. I don't really look forward to getting a new tablet just for this reason.

    Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

I have never had anything with a serial connection, so I can't help you there. I can tell you your Intuos2 pen will work with any Intuos2 tablet even USB. So if you do need to get a USB version you will have an extra pen.

I'm sorry I can't help with your tablet workaround but I'm hoping you would be kind enough to let me know how you get on with XP 64 because I'm thinking about upgrading soon; just dithering because of compatibility worries.

PS Why not splurge on the new Wacom Cintiq 12WX - object of my desire, this month.
