    Jitter Brush

Have you seen this? Many interesting brushes to download freely:

The Suminagashi brushes are beautiful if used on a dark paper. The Glow brushes should also be used on a dark paper.

    Yes, Mats.

David Gell has been a generous friend of the Painter community for several years. His Suminagashi brushes are some of my favorites.

Here are a couple of things I've done with them:

    Another Suminagashi

    A Quick Little Doodle

They're extremely relaxing to play with and seem to lead the artist to new and lovely places.

Try 'em if you haven't already.

It is remarkable! Curiously, it seems like most users paint figuratively although painting software has increased the possibilities of abstract painting immensely. Now one can really try out many ideas like never before. After all, it's not possible to use regular paint in this way and experiment until one finds something interesting. Figurative painting is "safer" as it can easily be made engaging. However, the possibilities of abstract painting is now much greater. I think it will have a creative impact.

I also discovered Gell's "Live Impasto/AA Depth Primer". It is remarkable. One can paint with gouache, for instance, and add brush stroke structure afterwards. His "Impastoso/Eraser Depth" is useful, too. One can make depressions into impastoed colour with this tool, and thus paint with incisions, as it were.

(PS. I now realized that there is a "Depth Eraser" in Painter 12:s library too.)
