Hi again,
OK, now we're in the appropriate forum for technical problems and bug reports.
This part of you post is appropriate for this forum:
kookookrayzy:Hi folks,
I've been having a problem with the Distort tool (Effects/Orientation/Distort) since I upgraded my Intel Mac to OSX Leopard:
When I try to use the control points to distort the selection, I'm unable to affect them. They don't respond to the cursor at all.
Has anyone run into this problem, or found a work-around? I'm trying to avoid using Photoshop for distorts.
This part of your post, is more appropriate in a new thread in the Suggestion Box forum, if what I say below doesn't cover what you want as a new feature addition:
Now that I mention it...
Photoshop's transform tool allows the INDEPENDENT movement of control points; you can hold CTRL/CMD and move those points individually; this is a reeeallly useful feature that I wish was available to Painter's Distort tool... I'm not sure how hard it would be to implement, but myself and other users I've talked to would love to do this in Painter.
Thanks in advance for any help folks!

In Painter X and Painter X.1, we can move bounding box handles independently using both Effects > Orientation > Distort and Effects > Orientation > Free Transform.
Using Effects > Orientation > Distort, we can:
- Click a corner bounding box handle and drag to distort the Layer,
- Click a top or bottom center bounding box handle and drag up or down to change the Layer's height,
- Click a left or right side center bounding box handle and drag left or right to change the Layer's width, or
- Hold down the Ctrl key (Windows) or Command key (Mac), then click and drag to rotate the Layer.
Using Effects > Orientation > Free Transform, we can:
- Click a corner bounding box handle and drag to enlarge or reduce the Layer's size,
- Click a top or bottom center bounding box handle and drag up or down to change the Layer's height,
- Click a left or right side center bounding box handle and drag left or right to change the Layer's width,
- Hold down the Ctrl key (Windows) or Command key (Mac), then click and drag a top, bottom, left, or right center bounding box handle in any direction to distort the Layer, or
- Hold down the Ctrl key (Windows) or Command key (Mac), then click
and drag a corner bounding box handle to rotate the Layer.
I think that covers everything we can do using Distort and Free Transform (other than using Set Transform and Commit Transform), but if anyone reading this notices I missed something, feel free to let me know.
kookookrayzy,
If what I typed above doesn't cover what you want to post as a feature request, please edit your post above to remove that part from this thread. Then post it in a new thread in the Suggestion Box forum. Be very specific so the Corel Painter Development team will understand what you want that's not already available in Painter X and Painter X.1. (We understand from your post it's not all available in OSX Leopard, which appears to be a technical problem/bug and should be available in that OS version, too).
Thanks!
