Warning on buying the painter 12 upgrade at this time.

Corel makes the point they are selling 12.2 now with their new promotions; however, what you will get is a very, very old version which you will have to patch up to 12.2.  I repeat, you are not paying for 12.2 in the box. There are no clues, instructions, or anything to guide you to the right sequence of applying the updates. I lost a lot of time struggling to figure out the right order of applying the updates. Had Corel actually shipped 12.2 in the box as I had paid for, I would not have to waste my time. In Usa, that is called bait and switch. I will not trust Corel. I am understanding why so many people dislike Corel.

FFS, just go to the Corel web site and download the patch!  In the time you took to write your whiney complaint, you could have installed 12.2.  Software companies very rarely have the latest version in the box product.  That's what internet sites are for!

Consider yourself lucky if this is all you have to complain about!

As Doug says, it's not unusual to receive an unpatched version long after the initial release. Stock lies in shops and warehouses for months waiting to be purchased. I suppose if there is a promotion that says you will receive v.12.2 then you should probably expect it but it's no big deal to install the patches.

Here's the link to the download on corel.com. Took me alll of 10 seconds or less to find it!

yep if you read my posting, I found and applied the updates. The point was that I didnt get what was promoted to sell by Corel. Why I waited so long, because I had bad past experiences with Corel updates for 10 and 11. So wanted to get latest without having to deal with buggy updates. Many other companies have no trouble selling latest version and have stable updating process. Corel clearly does not know how to code updates properly. After installing the old 12, I ran the updater which failed with little clues (cryptic error msg only) what to do next. The right thing was to slip a note into/on the box ot help the updating process. Sloppy customer service.

    moving on...

Out of curiosity, what promotion was it, as the main website says Painter 12 with free (sic) updates to 12.2?

What does it matter if the 12.0-->12.2 updates are on the web site?  Not like it's a major effort to get the updates.

Save your breath, Joe, he's obviously just being argumentative!
