A series of paintings I did whilst playing and practicing with Painter X.

As there was no original image to work from there is no cloning or auto painting used.

    squirrel,

I've seen all three of your latest works, from "out of my (your) head" and definitely have to say, your imagination is great.

I love the feeling(s) of these three paintings, and especially like the wild seas and moody skies.

Please continue working out of your imagination, using your own style and color palette. The results are wonderful, with more life, feeling, and evidence of the artist's hand than we see in most paintings done by Painter beginners (and often from more experienced Painter artists) !

I continue to look forward to your next offerings.

    Happy Painting!

Thanks for your encouragement jinny. It means a lot to me. I am gaining more confidence with both Corel painting programmes (X and E4) and find that as a beginner I learn things from one programmes that I can experiment with in the other.

That is beautiful. And I agree with Jinny. Out of your head is working really well for you. Ann

    Hi squirrel,

It's a pleasure to encourage you, especially since you're so willing to try new things.

You may already be using these since division of vertical space in your paintings seems to indicate you understand these principles of composition already, but just in case you aren't using them:

If you're interested, and when you're ready, another feature you might want to add to your arsenal is Painter's Devine Proportion palette. Using it makes it easy to check composition. Another tool is the Layout Grid that can be used for the same purpose.

Either of them can help us place focal points and horizon lines (among other things) in a pleasing arrangement. They can also help us avoid drawing the viewer's eye out of the picture.

Keep up the good work, and always remember to make it fun! :)

    Re: Out of My Head

I am having great fun creating digitally and for me the best thing is that I don't always have to scrap something when it goes wrong. I can either undo or strip away a layer or two and have another go.

I was a real doodler when in my studies at school and at work and would often get into trouble for it as the lecturer thought I was not paying attention. However it was the opposite, the more I concentrated the more I doodled. Now I like nothing more than to splash digital paint over a digital canvas and then manipulate it util something emerges and grabs my attention. This was the case with this image.

I'm not sure if this a memory of a real place (seen in books etc) or if it is my own interpretation of the essence of a standing stone. Either way it is an 'out of my head'  image.

Dang, but your stuff is getting prettier and prettier.  I like all of them but especially that flower you put in this thread.  Keep em coming for our looking pleasure.
