    Pencil Brushes

    Hi,

I was wondering if somebody already created the 4 and 5B etc pencil brushes?

There is a 2B brush. But wouldn't it be nice to have brushes by brandname?

What I mean is, there is this gradation in pencils from 9h to 9B and there are a few mayor players:

    Check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pencil for details.

    gr,

Hi, and welcome to The PainterFactory, Milo.

I don't know of a custom brush library that includes all of those pencils, but it sounds like a good project for someone who knows enough about Corel Painter's brush controls to tackle.

David Gell? Are you reading this? (Hint, hint).

    Enjoy the site, Milo.

This thread has been moved from the Got a Question? forum to the Corel Painter X forum because the subject is not related to technical issues or bug reports that would involve the Corel Painter developers and possibly other Painter users who may be experiencing the same problems (appropriate for the Got a Question? forum).

Since you don't say what Corel Painter version you're using, I'm going to guess it's Corel Painter X or X.1 and the subject of this thread about general understanding and use of Corel Painter X or X.1, thus approriate for this forum.

If you're using an earlier Painter version, please let me know and I'll move the thread to the Painter Past forum.

Yes I made a full set of brushes, you test the pencils by installing my brush set here https://download.yousendit.com/9247D0F5749FF344

I hope that Corel techs sees this and maybe in the next version a 2B pencil brush actually makes lines that look like a 2B pencil.

    Hi furio,

Thanks for sharing your custom pencil brush variants.

Since many members use WinZip and Zip files can be extracted using either WinZip or StuffIt, it would be a big help if you can also provide your custom brushes in a ZIP file.

Thanks in advance. I'm sure a lot of Painter users will enjoy using them.

No need to since there's 7zip, this program can extract and compress anything, it's freeware too.

I forgot to mention that there's also a blue pencil on the Pencils category which is one of my favorites, just make sure you work on a low resolution file because of the mean aliasing in Painter.

Unfortunately, it says the download limit has now been reached for your file.

It also says to ask the sender to resend it. Is that possible?

Thanks for letting me know the file was offline, this one should stay forever.

These brushes were originally done on and for Painter 6 (BRS) years ago, unfortunately Painter 9, 10 and maybe 8 loads the brushes made in Painter 6 wrongly and required some reconfiguration to fix the loading errors, so use Painter 9 or try to reconfigure the settings if a brush works dodgy. It's mostly the brushes using the rendered engine, pencils should be fine.

    Re: Pencil Brushes

I've just tested the brushes in Painter 10 and they load fine, the only problem I've encountered is that some brushes load a default color of neon pink including the blue pencil! This is strange considering I've saved the brush default with a blue color and even saved that color in the brush profile as default but Painter thinks that blue is out and pink is in this season, so just save a variant with the same name and uncheck the default color box or save a default color in case of the blue pencil.

Speaking of Pencil brushes, there was a rather nice find in one of the own Painter Blogs on this site: http://painterfactory.com/blogs/davids_blog/archive/2007/12/09/static-pencils-colored-pencils.aspx
