Greetings and a Paintered cartoon to share.

I have been a traditional media cartoonist since 1976, professionally and just within the last year and a half I began doing my coloring with Painter X. I started using computers in 2003 and colored with Photoshop for the years in between but never really enjoyed it like I did when painting with real paints and brushes. Now with PX I feel like an artist again! There is a lot to learn, as I have found with computers, but I enjoy it. This was my first real attempt at watercoloring with blending layered transparent colors. It caused quite a stir in emails and on the web, and a Philly law firm asked to purchase giclee prints as well as the original art (which then had to be recreated, after the fact in traditional, physical form!). You can see it and other examples along with prints and posters and cards at my site www.dancollinscartoons.com. I'm new here but hope to hang out often with you all. Dan Collins

Nice! Watercolors, you used... I have never seen such vibrant use of the tool in Painter.

I like the look you gave this. Plus your style is nice ^^

Thanks folks! I used a lot of yellow gold on almost the whole image at the base to give it that glazed oil look like the original painting. I gradually built up and blended transparent colors which could show through each other. It was a first effort that somehow turned out rather nice and pretty true to the old painting.
