I am a new member as well. Love the painting. Can you remember which brushes you used. Yes I would love to see some of your grandchildren. Did you use any special tutorial or purchase any DVD to get you started.

    Hi adams,

Heavens to betsy! How did I miss this post and fail to welcome you? Is it possible that I welcomed you in another thread?

    In any case...

    Welcome to The PainterFactory!

    Your painting is beautiful!

It just occurred to me you joined on my birthday, a day to remember. I spent the morning doing last minute study of the Drivers' Handbook, so worried I'd not pass the written test to renew my driver's license. After all the worry, I passed with no mistakes, not even one! The entire day was full of small but beautiful miracles.

Exhausted after doing the driver's test and taking care of some important errands, I just collapsed in a puddle of gratitude.

Not much of an excuse, but at least I can say I wasn't here that day.

Please do share more of your work. It's great!

    Welcome to The PainterFactory!

This is a new urban walking bridge in my area. Painted from a composite of 8 photos- due to trees obstructing the views.

Started using Painter some time ago and fell in love.

Viewed every free lesson I could find, all pertinent youtube training videos then purchased some DVD tutorials- Jane Connor-ziser- The Painted Portrait for Photographers (fav), Fay Sirkis-  A Celebration of Art: Paint Like a Master and her newest one- A Celebration of Art! Weddings, Portraits and Faces.

Started out using the brushes that came with Sirkis DVDs. Now have modified my own pallets.

Dee you are amazing in your painter skills!  Incredible!  You should share these with the Wisens. I never knew you liked Painter. Or perhaps I wasn't paying attention.

The foot bridge piece was a nice composition! The horse is amazing.

    Welcome from me too!

Met an elderly gentleman at a Chic Filet with his pets EAGERLY awaiting his return to the car (wonder why : }. Upon my request he commanded the pups to pose at the car window. I really felt I captured their distinctly different personalities (though it took MANY shots). I sent their "Dad" a free 11x14 painting for his efforts. Hope they make you smile too! Merry Christmas to all, Dee

Here is a painting of my neighborhood- in the northwest corner of SC- short distance from where the SC, Ga and NC state lines meet. We are surrounded by lakes here that were created by Duke Nuclear Power and at the foot of some steep mountainous terrain.

This painting was more photo-realistic as I included fine details rather than a loose impression. Hope you like it!

I really like this one a lot!

I guess I have a soft spot for the photo realism paintings...

wow, cool !!  did you actually draw it or edit it from a digital photo?

you can totally print it out, mout it on a wooden frame and sell it at a pretty good price.  =)

    Re: Sharing a pet painting

I start with a composited set of photos (PS) but I actually hand stroke every inch of canvas using different brushes and mediums. "Learning" how to paint but not good enough to do it without help. Have been trying to add painting skills to my photography for many years but just seemed to waste a lot of supplies because I never really liked "loose intepretation" preferring a more realistic result. Will post one I did of my Mother-in-law as soon as I finish it.

Thanks for looking and everyone's critisisms are welcome.
