Sure.  I was having trouble figuring out cloning with standard brushes.  I could only get the cloner and the smart stroke brushes to work.  What I discovered is that you have to hit the clone stamp icon next to the foreground/background color swatches in order to clone with any other brush.  It must be toggled for each brush individually.  In the tutorial I was using, this wasn't indicated at all.  Now I have an entire new cloning brush set to use that reacts better to the paper texture!

What I do is combine ZBrush sculpting with Photoshop compositing, editing, and painting.  Then I bring the finished render into Painter X to further paint on it.  Finally, I clone it several ways, pick the best or combine them, and call it a day (or a week, really!).  I just stumbled upon this Painter community, so I'll be sure and post some work soon.  In fact, I'll post one that I have on hand right now, and the rest later.  Take care

    Thanks for explaining.

    TIP:

Another way you can toggle Clone Color on and off is to click the U key.

    Cheers!

Hey, thanx!  I only work in painter lightly, so I'm just now getting around to studying it in depth via tutorials and books after owning it for more than a year.  I'm clueless on the hotkeys!  What I've learned so far has proven Painter to be a much more powerful art package than I expected.  There's more to it than just bristle emulation.

Yes, lots more than bristle emulation!

I've been using Painter for 13 years, nearly every day, and still discover new things surprisingly often. Corel Painter is a very complex program that offers endless possibilities and it's loads of fun.

If you want to learn keyboard shortcuts, you'll find them in the last chapter in Painter's Help Topics, on the Contents tab.

Learn a couple at a time and soon you'll be using them to save yourself lots of time.
