I DL'd the trial version today, but keep getting the (not responding) error. I have chatted online with CS and they told me to call in. I did so. Then came the arguement. I was told that since I did not purchase it, I could recieve no help. I pointed out that this is to make me WANT to buy the product and that me andmy family have been faithfull Corel users and buyers since Corel 4. However, I was told that this was not an excuse and that if I wanted help, I would need to buy the product. I am beyond offended. I think that Miguel #7235 needs to be fired. I told him that I wanted to speak to a supervisor and was told that would not happen. They might call me in 2-3 days. This is ridiculous. I just have to say.

There might be some help available for your problem from the knowledgable and courteous users of this forum if you do some searching. I needn't add that this is, naturally, free of charge, but I would understand if you have decided to drop the whole thing in the trash, given your experience.

I was going to phone Corel about this issue, but after reading the entire thread i thought it would be pointless. So i thought what the hell, I just go with this fix, it wasn't too scary and it now works like a dream . Thanks for your help.

In my eyes, Corel certainly have done well to damage their reputation.

However it working, all thanks to yourself and this community.

When I was nipper I bought The Voices of Silence by André Malraux. Big book about art and civilization, and believe me it's still sitting unread on same shelf.

Hi, just wanted to pop in and post on this thread in case people are still having problems.

I have Windows 7 x64 and went through all of the fixes in this thread, could not get it to work. It would still hang on launch and I would have to end task. I tried the fix they issued and would get the "did not install, not present" error. So right before I uninstalled it,  I then went in and right clicked the icon, and clicked on "Compatability Mode" and selected Vista SP2. Then it fired right up. I also have to say, I am VERY impressed with this software.

On a side note, the problem with registry keys is very common. There are tons of programs that leave registry keys. A good program to use to clear those out is CCleaner, its freeware and attaches to your recycle bin. Just open it up, select registry and it will do a scan to find all the old keys, then you can delete them.

Ok, spoke too soon. I got it to run once, but it fails to run again. Tried compatibility in everything.. all the way back to WinXP. No joy.

Never mind, Ron. There's plenty of well-behaving, and methinks more impressive, substitutes for SketchPad around nowadays. Paint Tool SAI and the new souped up Art Rage, to give just two examples well worth checking out at least. But as for SketchPad ...

    Sold off old computer last year. Winds XP machine that Corel SketchPad had amazingly installed on without any glitch at all. But when I came to strip off my programs etc I discovered that Corel SketchPad refused to uninstall. Can't recall now if it was 'Fatal Error' or else 'Corrupted Files' messages I got. Anyhow, had to restrain self from posting a 'Can't uninstall it' thread. Just didn't seem worth the bother - except for further fun in the way of divertissement.
