    computer requirements

I'm working on a Power G5 with 14 GB DDR2 SDRAM, processor 4 x 2.5 GHz PowerPC.  Sounds like an awesome machine, it is but not for Painter 11.  Would very much like to use Painter 11 more like one uses their painting brushes; so here's my question what exactly do I need in terms of a machine to have these brushes operate without much delay?  I have been eyeballing the new i5Mac but afraid that I'll be in the same position as I am now with the slow responses of specific brushes.  Any recommendations would be appreciated.

In my opinion your machine should do the job.  I have a Mac Pro with 6 GB 1066 MHZ DDR3 and a 2.93 GHz Quad-Cor Intel Xeon and it handles Painter 11 very well.  No problems really.

My art leads me to my sacred space.

There must be a significant difference in the way the PC chip vs Intel handles the watercolor brushes and other brushes that require massive amounts of memory because my experience is those brushes want me to scream.

    Thanks for you input

Lana, your G5 is definitively a grrrreat machine, and it should handle Painter 11 very well. Of course any modern Intel multicore processor Mac, even a humble MacMini will beat your G5 in terms of processor performance but I´m with Syd on that.

My Powerbook G4  handling Painter 11 reasonably well,  certainly suffers with watercolors and liquid ink. But it´s a G4 single core @1.5 Ghz...

Disabled enhanced brush ghostingin Painter would help much, anyway.

    Regards

Squeeze your G5; it´s  is still a good machine. Of course, in the future even a Macmini will amaze you...

You can test your Mac and compare to other machines here, using Geekbench (these are mine). If you score 2000-3000 , Painter should run very well, so check it out.
