Creating a Retro 1940's-1950's Pin-up girl style effect

Hi all in Painter Factory land,

I am a Photoshop user form the very beginnings, I always heard and saw the results of utilising both Painter and P.S. but never had the chance or opportunity to get around to giving it a go.

So guess what, my dearly beloved of 35 years purchased me Painter11 for my 21st birthday.

Well it’s just like being 21 one again as the dearly beloved and her friends want me to photograph them and create a kind of Pin-up-Girl effect in the style of George Petty or Gil Elvgren look/style.

Now I can manage the photos and any form of post editing in P.S. but it’s a steep learning curve for Painter, which is fairly easy when one has loads of P.S. and Illustrator knowledge and experience.

The specific help that I need is trying to locate DVD’s, books or tutorials on techniques demonstrating a kind of Pin-up-Girl effect in the style of George Petty or Gil Elvgren look/style.

True artists/painters which I must confess I am not would simply just draw/paint this Pin-up-effect, what I was hoping to do was to create this effect in Painter11 from a digital image.
