Jin, you are obviously a real painter, good at making intuitively beautiful and pleasing canvases.... to me (a newcomer, and still trying to understand what I want with it) Painter X--however great an experimenting ground--is no substitute for real materials, thick paint, textures, linen canvas....I feel you love those too, and that they are missing here. Is this your main medium, or do you also do studio work? Is there a more appropriate place where we can speak about these things?
Love the reflective quality, marvelous balance of colors and the ethereal feel here. Normally I am not one to appreciate abstract art, but this one is teaching me how. What a stunning piece.
Thanks so much for your comments. I apologize for taking so long to respond. I've been writing class materials and teaching a class at Digital Art Academy plus dealing with a death in my family. All that has kept me more than a little busy.
While I appreciate traditional painting, it's not something I've done much, only a little play with watercolors and almost 18 years doing pencil drawings and inkings... technical illustrations before I was forced to learn how to do all this using a computer (AutoCAD to begin with).
I've loved to draw since early childhood, around 3-1/2 and still love to draw but there's not so much time these days what with my heavy involvement with Corel Painter for the past 13 years.
If you'd like to discuss this further, feel free to post a new thread in the General Discussion forum under Art Chat. That forum is appropriate since it was set up for discussions about art and artists.
Thanks for your lovely comments on my painting. They mean a lot coming from another digital artist whom I both like and respect, and whose work I love.
I hope your Christmas calandar is selling well. If I can ever get away from my computer long enough, I'll try to find it and buy one or two.
Cheers, and a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2009 to you and yours!
