Hi Corel team it's me banging on your door again .... LOL
Would it be possible to have a discussion board that is solely for images created using Essentials only with no preparation or special effects done in any other programme?
Pure Painter Essentials from start to finish?
I think this would be of great help to show the sheer creative power of this super programme.
thanks again ... sheila (aka - squirrel)
I think it's a cool Idea, Also a Freehand Board would be cool.
The more we
all discover how versatile and capable PE is, the more we seem to need
dedicated discussions and galleries. I know that can be tricky, as there's so much
overlap, but I think it would be a timesaver for those of us who are
trying to learn as much as we can, as fast as possible!
April 30 General Discussion post, I suggested that we have two distinct
galleries--one "Pure PE" (I like your "Pure" suggestion, Squirrel!) and the other "PE Plus" (Essentials used in
combination with other software, including but not limited to Painter
and Photoshop). After reading Amar's post, I'm thinking that the "PE Only" gallery should be
split in two, with one for autopainting and
autopainting-with-manual-enhancement, and the other for totally
freehand Essentials work.
And while I'm at it (telling other people how they should do my bidding, that is), separate discussion boards along the same lines would be equally helpful.
Of course, this is all easy for me to say, as I'm
not the one who would have to implement a reorganization. But I know at
least some other members are interested in something like this. Is
there any way we can take a poll?
I think it would be great to have a freehand forum that was separate from the autopaint. That said I think one of the main reasons would be so there was no feeling of autopainting being any less art than freehand painting because it isn't. It still takes a lot of creativity to come up with the perfect settings and all of the tweaking that occurs. I do think sometimes people may feel like they are less talented than those who do freehand work. Of course they are wrong, some are just discovering their artistic talent. I think it's great that all of you who are very talented are so willing to help teach those of us who are just learning. This is a truly great place to be and I appreciate every single person here.
I second that emotion, Claudia. Sure, you can slap together an autopainting. But what if you carefully select and maybe crop a source photo and then choose just the right combination of options for your autopainting? It takes an artistic eye to make those judgments.
I've seen a lot of paintings here by self-professed non-artists that sure look like art to me. And lately I've been perusing magazines such as American Artist and, while most of what I see there is fabulous, I also look at a lot of professional (and highly regarded) work and think "Heck, I've seen better at the Essentials Cafe!"
I've only dabbled in the freehand side of PE so far, because the auto- and semi-autopainting possibilities seem endless, and I'm having so much fun. (I know, I have yet to post a painting, but I will!)
My primary reason for wanting separate forums/galleries is so that I don't have to keep asking if something is autopainted or freehand, or if it is "pure Essentials" or "Essentials plus" other software. I could waste a lot of time trying to replicate a technique using the wrong tools!
I hope folks don't see the Cafe as a talent competition. We're not here to judge each other, but rather to learn, teach, encourage, and inspire. Paint on!
I've been here since Christmas and I have yet to see any signs of a competetive attitude by anyone. All I have seen are friendly helpful people who are more than happy to offer any help they can and encouragement.
