So... I have a problem with Essentials 5: When I load a photo to work on, regardless of the brush I'm starting with, the software switches to the soft cloner in the photo painting brushes. While the photo I've loaded shows in the photo painting panel, the picture that loads on the screen is white. I then need to run over the entire picture with the soft cloner to make the picture appear as though it's invisible inking coming into view. I have no idea how I did this, nor have I any idea how to get my Essentials hellscape to stop. Please help.
Well, reset program by holding down the Shift key while starting.
Also, the white screen may be due to the tracing paper opacity,
Well, yeah, the image returns when I turn the tracing paper opacity to zero. But I'm confused as to why I need to click the "show tracing paper" box at all. Or am I misunderstanding what the function of that box is? I tried a reply with several screenshots to illustrate my question, but I kept getting and error and a notice to contact the admin, so for now text will have to suffice. Hopefully I am adequately describing what is happening. If I'm being confusing let me know and I'll the screenshots another go.
. Also, I just don't get why the brush I select is replaced automatically with the soft cloner brush. Is this normal?
All versions of Painter have the same "show tracing paper on or off and opacity" for clones.
So, it appears the soft cloner brush is selected by default when you are using the clone image with tracing paper- do you have any trouble then switching to another brush?
If you choose Paint by Hand with Clone color from source image box unchecked does the cloner brush still pop up?
Some tutorials that may better help you understand how the program works-
