Painter on the Android and iOS are both the same, that is Infinite Painter. The progress and development of the software is strong and going forward. It is a very good software with a great user interface that makes everything you want to do as easy as on a desktop computer. Working on a tablet is standard even for professional artists, designers and illustrators.
SketchBook Pro app on Android made a new release last week. It is such a great app! I use it on my tablet(s) as well as on my desktop. Sometimes even on my phone.
Procreate upgrades now and then...maybe the best art app of them all.
Clip studio just had a release on iOS.
Many more good software could be in this list.
Painter Mobile is not a bad app on my Android Galaxy Tab S3, not at all. Especially the watercolour brushes are very good. But the development seems to have stopped. Has it?
Agree! Lots of illustrating / graphics apps are quickly developing to be stronger and more capable because of the stronger tablets and phones. The new standards of screens and processors makes it possible to do what you could not do just some years ago. That is why Corel Painter Mobile is falling behind, Corel does not follow up the latest. Painter Mobile stays the same. Soon it will be forgotten.
Corel Painter Mobile is a small and OK painting app. This illustration is all done in this Corel Painter Mobile app.
Painter Mobile is limited in size, 2048 x 2048 px is all it can handle. I tried A4 size at 300 dpi, that made the app crash. All my other painting / illustration apps on my Galaxy Tab S3 can handle A4, or even bigger. That is what a modern mobile app should be able to handle. And there are some more toolos and features needed:
Selection tools is a must. Rulers and guides are great things (just check out SketchBook and Infinite Painter)! Stroke stabilizer makes every inking project soo much easy, stroke stabilizers in MediBang, IbisPaint and SketchBook are addictive. Clipping layer, masking layer, that's what every program needs. I use it as often as I can. Lock transparency is good, but not as flexible, Masking is needed! Spray / Airbrush tool to add texturing, shades and hilites and all sorts of random graphics marks, just like in Procreate and other apps, that what Painter mobile needs. Gradient fill / pattern and texture fill... of course. And brushes of all kinds, sketching, inking, painting, flat and textured... That is all I need.
Corel can do it on both Android and iOS. Adobe can, and has already done it. Infinite Painter has done it. Corel can, If there is a will to do it.
