Ok, so I'm trying to get my acrylic brush to act kind of like a real brush.
I'm using acrylic Real Dry Flat
The brush indicator shows a vertical oval. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to turn it! what if i want to make a downward stroke?
The entire angle panel is grayed out. i can't change anything there. Where do i go to adjust this thing?
turning the page does nothing, it still draws the same direction.
I'm using a cintiq companion 2 BTW.
Hi Stephen, how are you? Is this possible in a on a more humble digital table? I have a Wacom CTL-490 and I'm having problems rotating the brushes. For example: I saw a lady in YouTube using the panel: thick paint -> Expression -> Bearing to Angle, but this method didn't work for me and this brush doesn't have the "RealBristle" enabled. How could I proceed in this case?
Thank you in advance!
Which brush are you using? And which version of Corel Painter? If you don't have an Art Pen, the brush will not rotate from you rotating the barrel of the pen. That's a hardware issue, more or less. Changing the Angle is supposed to let you change this, from setting the initial angle to changing its expression (Direction is the most useful one for me because it follows which way I'm going). Bearing will base it on which way the Stylus is pointing (which involves Tilt, which I don't know if the CTL-490 supports).
Not all brushes let you change this... I think the Rendered sorts do not support it for historical reasons (i.e., they were introduced when Wacom was really trying to push art pens).
Thanks for your time FuzzyBoots, sorry for the delay in answering your questions ... I'm moving house and haven't seen your questions. I am using Corel Painter 2021. I think that the "problematic" brushes that do not rotate are various ... usually all "knife" brushes, or thick paint brushes. I imagine that there is no way to use the rotation tool for simpler tablets like wacom CTL-490 and others. I was wondering if there is another way (external), such as using the mouse, the arrow keys, using the ASDW keys, spacebar ket etc. It should be something simpler and smarter! We should have other (external) ways to rotate the brushes. It is very difficult to use thick paint if we cannot rotate the brush in some way, at least some angles. I think the program is not worth it for those who have simpler wacom tablets! The program is already quite expensive and should be more accessible for simpler tablets owners. I am very disappointed with the program because all the wonders of thick paint simulation cannot be used properly. Anyway thank you very much for your attention and availability!
There is a workaround at https://painterfactory.com/painter_product_discussion/f/got-a-question-technical-issue-bug-report-for-the-painter-team/26758/rotate-the-palette-knife involving setting the Expression to Wheel (Wheel being something on the Airbush pen) and then setting that in the Mouse settings. Unfortunately, the granularity isn't great, and does not map to actual angles. Of course, you can set rotation in mouse settings, but that doesn't apply once you start using the Pen.
