Hey all -
I am looking for a quick and dirty way to create a "pencil sketch" drawing from a source photo using Painter 2018's auto-painting functionality. I see it's possible (easy even) with Painter Essentials 6 (see Painter Tutorial YouTube vid's by Karen (?) where she does this).
Anyone have a quick tutorial or tips on how to do this?
Under Effects tab, Surface Control at the bottom of options is one for Sketch.
I was looking for the same results as I'm using the trial version of Essentials 7 but own Painter 2019. And Google lead me to this thread. I tried as you suggested and got nothing comparable to the results Essentials 7 pencil sketch. What other options must be set, what brush (yes I tried the clone pencils) and nothing even close to the awesome pencil sketch of Essentials 7.
I only have PE4 but the pencil sketch presets for auto-painting are superior. They don't appear to be available in Painter 2019. Besides the Sketch Effect I mentioned, I played with various settings in 2019 and could find no combinations acceptable.
I concur. I own Painter 2019 and Essentials 5. And for auto photo clone painting Essentials is a superior product. I downloaded the trial versions of Painter 2020 and Essentials 7. For me it's a no brainer, Essentials is the better product for my needs. It's too bad, Painter is over three times the price of Essentials and does not have the features or options for auto painting. I do not do much free hand painting or drawing. But when I do, I prefer Photoshop & ArtRage.
Corel needs to offer these features in Painter.
Don't get me wrong, Painter is an excellent product. But not for my auto painting needs.
