Yet again, random pop up ads are appearing on my computer from Corel, running from their so-called Update Helper. This isn't a web ad or anything like that, this is a malware-esque pop-up that loads in the OS and appears on top of any other windows until you close it. Not only that, just having this pop-up open is somehow gobbling up 6% of my Core i7 CPU.
FOR A PURCHASED PIECE OF SOFTWARE, DISPLAYING THESE POP-UP ADS WHEN YOU AREN'T EVEN RUNNING THE PROGRAM IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE.
Others have complained about this too in the past, and Corel's tech support plays dumb and acts like they're surprised this happens. I already disabled this before with Painter 2017 and 2018, and after installing 2019 again, surprise--it's back. Even if it's easily disabled, this should not be something that is opted-in by default, and is just another example of the stupid amount of effort Corel puts into trying to push their product sales instead of improving them.
OH LOOK! Again! Even after I disabled this multiple times in the past. Corel, you're never getting another dime of my money. Putting pop-up ads on our computers that appear when we haven't launched Painter in months is ADWARE. I can't think of a single other company or piece of software I own that does this, except yours. If you want us to keep buying your software, make it better. It'll advertise itself.
I'm getting these Painter 2021 popups too. Is there anyway to stop these? Super annoying.
Me too, I getting this SPAM as well. Corel thinks it will encourage me to update. BUT it's going to have the opposite results. Tired of all this CRAP.
I don't understand why it's so difficult for corel to explicitly ask for user permission to show bullsh-t ads during installation before enforcing something so intrusive and infuriating on their customers.
