Hi! I'm pretty new to Painter, having come from using a decent amount of photoshop use. I am liking it, except I can't seem to figure out one issue I'm having. Is there a way to set up a hotkey so that I have the Eraser function in use only while I hold the key? I feel like I'm being held back by having to press the Erase key, do some erasing, then press the Brush key again to continue where I left off.
I think you're misunderstanding what I want. I want to be able to have it set to the pen, draw, then when I make a mistake hold a button to swap to erase, remove the error, then when I let go of that key being held it immediately and automatically goes back to the pen.
And you don't like the B/N two step?
Its rather clunky compared to what I'm used to with photoshop.
I find the same when certain microsoft programs don't use the universal shortcuts that everyone else does.
By the way, what IS the PS hold to erase key?
Looking it up on google it appears to be an improvement added since my version of PS.
It's not a bad improvement though: holding the eraser key (as opposed to a single click) will return you to the previous tool upon release. (as opposed to permanently switching to eraser). Nice, functional.
Make a new post in the "suggestion box" and I'll +1 it, which may help.(https://painterfactory.com/painter_product_discussion/f/suggestion-box)
Also fill out the questionaire (not sure of the link to that) and mention it on the appropriate questions.
It can't hurt to mention there, whether or not it gets put on the developer's "to do" list or not.
