I had gotten several packs of brushes for essentials and I was really loving them. I was assuming I'd still be able to use them once I upgraded. However it doesn't seem to be working. Is this not something I'm able to do? I really loved the hair brushes and lightning brush packs.
I reached out today and they confirmed they do not work with the full painter. Plus they wouldn't give me a discount or anything for upgrading brush packs, since the same packs are available for painter (at least the times are the same).
Wow, that's not really great customer service at all.. 2021 do look like a great and big upgrade with many possiblities.. But I do feel discouraged, because what happens when 2022 arrives? Do they just screw, those customers who made purchases in that program, over then?.. A shame, I was really starting to get into the program :/
Ah, there may be a bit of confusion here. Brushes are forwards compatible in Corel Painter. Heck, only half joking, most of the Painter 2021 brushes are from Painter 2015 (I think that was the gold standard of compatibility) and you can still import brushes from earlier versions (although I think it's slightly more complicated for much earlier ones, before they settled on the current format). Essentials just isn't compatible with Corel Painter.
Oooh okay.. I think I'm a bit confused about how it works, yes.So if I bought brush packs in Corel Painter Essentials 7 I can't imort/tranfser them to Corel Painter 2021?
I don't know the correct answer here, not part of Corel support, but my understanding is that Corel Essentials and Corel Painter use different file formats for brushes, quite possibly to keep the people who own Painter from just giving all of their brushes to the people using Essentials (since the big differences between the two are brush availability, brush customization, and price). I personally don't get why they wouldn't encourage people to upgrade to Painter by allowing them to bring their Essentials brushes with them, but maybe there is something fundamentally difficult about transferring them.
Okay thank you for the answer! And I totally agree with you, it's both frustrating and actually a bit silly of them.
Yes, I was assuming that they were basically the same program, and I could bring them with. But it seems they are actually very different programs.
Good news is, I'm having fun trying to create new brushes.
