Can you create custom brushes from nothing?

Hello

While I understand the advantages of creating custom brushes from preset brushes, I would rather create my own brushes from zero.

I tried to find how-tos with no luck.

Please let me know if there are any ways.

    Hello, 
    In order to create a custom brush you must start with an existing brush preset. You can change all the settings from the advanced brush controls panel and turn it into an entirely different brush.
