The Align to Path function is absent from Painter 2020. The manual says to click the Align to Path button on the property bar. There is no such button. The illustrations of the property bar in the manual confirm do not show such a button. There is a potential key board shortcut for Toggle align to path, but once constructed, this shortcut does not turn on this function.
It is in a flyout menu on the property bar. Click on the fourth icon from the left and that will open a flyout menu. Align to path is the first option. Hope this helps.
That command is inactive. It is permanently dimmed on my machine, and also dimmed in the illustrations in the manual. Is it active for you?
Yes it works for me. You have to create a path first. Once you do that, then the align to path will be selectable. Take the pen tool and make a few lines. Then switch to a brush and select align to path and the brush will paint along the path. So yes, it is dimmed on my machine, too, until I make a path which is required for it to work.
I have tried that, but align still doesn't work. The menu item remains dormant.
Painter 2020 has caused me a lot of bother. I think I'll go back to Krita, for now.
OK...sorry it doesn't work for you. I'm on a PC and it works like a charm, but I do have to create a path first, which can be done using the pen tool. There are a couple of ways of making a path and it is important to create the path...otherwise it will not work. Since it works for me, it would seem that it would work for you...sigh. Too bad Painter is giving you a lot of bother. Bummer!
