I've done a fair bit of googling and haven't come up with a single site/page/forum thread that discusses optimizing my GPU for Painter. I have a background in gaming so probably more familiar with changing all of the settings than others w/o a gaming background. Has anyone tweaked their 3d settings, or even the simple "performance vs quality" setting to see if it affects performance in those brushes that utilize the GPU in Painter?
There’s now the new brush acceleration in Painter 2020, it tests your GPU & CPU & sets it to create optimal settings for brush acceleration in your computer. It makes a difference to the performance of these brushes.
Update: I actually achieved the best score using the "Let Application Decide" setting. I think that's the default when updating driver and choosing "Clean" install.I also have found that if I'm getting really bad brush performance, or performance in general I go through a routine of:1. Stopping and starting Wacom service at an elevated cmd prompt: net stop "Wacom Professional Service" and then net start "Wacom Professional Service" (I actually created a batch file on my desktop and just double-click it and it does it automatically). Most of the time this does the trick. But when it doesn't I move on to Step 2...
2. Restart Painter
3. Restart Computer
4. Update video card drivers (or re-install same version)
At one point I was pulling my hair out, not knowing what the problem was and on a whim, re-installed drivers and Presto! magically fixed.
