Rotoscoping with Esoterica

Hi!

I`m new to Corel Painter and I`m trying to figure out how to do rotoscope  animation with Mosaics tool. I have imported my reference, but when I make one drawing with the mosaics tool and I switch to next frame, the first mosaic stays on all frames. Is there any solution to make it work inside CP?

  • Hi Tamara95, I think this is possible here are some steps that I did that seemed to work:

    1. Movie > New Movie (I did default size, 3 frames just for this test)
    2. I went to Effects > Make Mosaic and Tesselation
    3. Painted some tiles
    4. Clicked OK on the Make Mosaic and Tesselation dialog
    5. In the Movie panel, I clicked forward 1 frame.
    6. I went to Effects > Make Mosaic and Tesselation (again)
    7. the previous mosaic was there, but I clicked "Clear" to start a new mosaic, said ok to the prompt
    8. I painted a new mosaic
    9. Clicked OK on the Make Mosaic and Tesselation dialog
    10. In the Movie panel, I clicked forward 1 frame.
    11. I went to Effects > Make Mosaic and Tesselation (again)
    12. the previous mosaic was there, but I clicked "Clear" to start a new mosaic
    13. I said ok at the prompt
    14. I painted a new mosaic

NOTE: Mosaic is designed so you can 're-edit' the tiles/tile color with standard Painter documents (not movies), so by clicking clear between each frame, you are essentially 'rendering the tiles to canvas permanently' and loosing this ability. That said, this should still work nicely for your project as you will likely have several tiled images to make, and re-editing is probably not needed.

Let me know if this helps!
