Using Mac with Painter 2020. Brush is Oils / Fine Soft Brush.
I am using an image in my mixer pad and have recently used this same mixer pad image to paint with. I was able to sample color with the 'Sample Multiple Colors' for this painting, but now this does not work. I have shut down / restarted the app, but this did not help.
I have just verified that NO brush will sample paint with this eye dropper.
Any help will be appreciated.
I have tried several of the included mixer pads and none could be sampled with this color sampler tool.
In order to use this image for my color source(s), I removed it from the mixer pad and just opened it as a normal file. Once open, I sample color with the eye dropper tool. However, this still does not repair the functionality of the color sampler in the mixer pad.
Hi Phillip, I'm trying to see if I can get the same problem (in 2020 on a Windows system at the moment)
Here are the steps I took:
1. Created a document, sampled single color using the defaul mixer > works
2. I made sure I switched to a brush that supports multi-color sample (key step)...in this case Artists' Oils > Blender Bristle. Painted after sampling an area with interesting colors. > works.
3. I loaded a custom file into the mixer via the option menu (upper right corner) > Open Mixer pad. Sampled an area with multiple, interesting colors (one click in the interesting area) > works
So at least per these steps, I'm not able to get the same issue. Could the sample size be too small? It's the slider at the bottom of the mixer...I think the default is 24px, so if your custom image is high rez, you may need to increase that to get a nice range of colors...
Thank for your response.
Today the multi-color sampler works, for some reason. This afternoon I downloaded a recent update to my Mac OS X, v10.15.5 to v1015.6, but do not believe this could have anything to do with this issue at all. My computer was restarted, so perhaps that is what helped.?
For whatever reason, the multi-sampler is now functioning correctly. I'm elated about this because sampling multiple colors at once is a great feature for us.
I almost always use a custom document which is 300ppi, so yes, a 40px or so is my normal multi-color sampler slider setting.
Question: I had no idea that not all paint brushes 'supported' multi-sampling. A pencil would have no need for this, so how do you know which brushes support this feature?
Your help is much appreciated.
I have installed the same image mention above into the mixer pad and can also sample multiple colors from it, which I was unable to do previously. Everything now seems to be working as it should.
