Today I bought a bundle brush pack. Downloaded it and installed it. Go into Painter 2021 and they are not there to choose from. I went to the other brush versions in the selector "Painter 17 (18, 19, 2020, ect.) Brushes" and they are not there. I tried installing with Painter closed, again open. I've rebooted my computer.
One of the brushes in this pack that I don't have and is a single word is "Wedding". I went to a DOS prompt and search C:\ and it's subdirectories for *wedding*.nib (and *.brushcategory). I couldn't find it.
I don't know where they are or why this always seems to be a hassle when using EXE installs for brushes.
Does somebody know how to get this installed and in my 2021 selector list? I have time today to play with the new brushes.
Thank you in advance.
Assuming this is for Windows, you might try extracting the installer contents and then copying the brushes over. I'm sure something else exists on the Mac side.
Side note, on the off chance the brushes did install, there are two places they might go as per my post here on the Graphic Design Stack Exchange. Usually, installers will put them in the Program Files directory, something like C:\Program Files\Corel\Painter 2021\Brushes\Painter 21 Brushes. That's the default "new workspaces will pull from here" location. If you've imported them into a current Workspace, it will be in your Roaming folder, some place like C:\Users\(user name)\AppData\Roaming\Corel\Painter 2021\(workspace name)\Brushes\. My experience has been that Windows often doesn't include those locations for where to search.
You could also drop a message with Corel Support. They're usually not bad for simple issues like this, and they'll want to avoid a lost sale.
Thank you for responding.
Sorry, yes, this is Win10. Unfortunately the brushes are in an EXE file and not an MSI. I tried the DOS command from your first suggestion anyway but it came back saying it wasn't a valid file. As for the files being elsewhere, I've been in DOS because Windows search\Cortana sucks for finding files. I typed this:
cd\dir *wedding*.* /s /b (wedding being a single word to search for and a brush I do not already possess)
Nothing:Just for haha's I did the same with *.nib and *.brushcategory. Nothing.
I even searched for MSI's. I found other brushes\brush packs and other MSI's I'm going to explore later, but not the one I need.
I have contacted support from the website and have a ticket # but still no response yet and I opened the ticket before I posted on here. I was just hoping to resolve my issue quickly since I have some time right now to play with the new brushes.
It seems to me this should be a lot simpler. Sometimes it seems to be and others, not so much, I am now wondering if I only have problems with brushes I purchase from a Corel email ad instead of within the Painter Program.
Thanks again, FuzzyBoots.
Did you check the two directories I provided above?
As regards the Executable, you might have to take the additional step here. I used that at one point for an executable Corel support had sent me. Funnily enough, it turned out there was an additional brush library in the installation file that was not normally installed.
