Yes, it's the old thing of it painting in white instead of blending what's below. Yes I have pick-up underlying colour selected. No There's nothing special about the layers below, or the layer I'm trying to use.. No watercolour or oils etc. They are all default and ignore.I've not messed around with the blend options button on the toolbar.Previously the Just add water brush would work fine. but now in Painter 2020 I went to try and blend as I usually do and I got white instead of transparent.I tried everything except for restoring to factory defaults, because I have lots of brush packs installed and don't want to go through the whole thing of trying to re-install them. Well that or uninstalling painter and forgetting it ever existed and moving on with my life. Can anyone help please?
Not sure if this helps any, but the "Just Add Water" blender brush is listed under the "Blenders" category for me in 2020 and works okay in my system. Can't seem to find it under "Fast and Simple", which shares the same icon as the one in your screenshot.
Simple is in the Corel Painter 2019 and before, and indeed, it does seem to bleach things instead of blending them and bleaching them as advertised. The version in Blending works better.
Huh, and apparently they forgot to update the User Guide. It still talks about the "Simple" category in Painter 2020.
Hmm... and indeed that same Simple / Just Add Water brush works fine in Painter 2019, but importing it into Painter 2020 makes it just bleach..
And... now it's working just fine, both blurring and lightening the area (as well as dragging color in with a larger brush stroke). Very odd.
I've had to recreate a brush when I transferred some of my custom/older brushes over to Painter 2020 from 2019. Most work, but there's that one or two that made the program crash or acted wonky. Finding a similar brush in 2020, then recreating the settings I could see from 2019 has worked for me, but I'm not sure if it'll work for all brushes. I don't use many in general.
