I was using the Painter 11's eyedropper when suddenly I noticed when I tried picking up a color it would only show white. When I clicked on a black line it would show black. I was sure to be on the layer that had the color I was trying to select with the eyedropper. What am I doing wrong?
oh no i have the same problem and this hasn't been answered in 9 years
I think some more detail may be needed to answer the question...
1. Which version of Painter?
2. What can you tell us about the layer? Is it a default layer type, a watercolor layer, a shape layer? a Thick Paint layer? Something else?
3. If you are on Painter 2019/2020, what are the settings for the eyedropper tool? (sample size/which layers to be sampled?...all visible or selected layer only?)
I had the same issue last week. I was using the keyboard to select colors and suddenly it just gave me white. I don't know if I might have pushed the wrong key combination accidentally. I use the spacebar, command and option keys a lot for moving, color eye dropper and brush sizing. The brush sizing (Command and option) also stopped working. I had been at my painting for quite a while so I thought maybe I should turn off Painter and give it a rest. I restarted Painter with a shift start and everything was back working properly. Maybe I was just pushing the Painter.
P20 seems to work correctly all the time using eye dropper tool directly or as alt when using brush tool.
