Corel Painter 2019 Can't Find Ultimate Brush Pack Brushes

Hi,

I recently purchased the Ultimate Brush Pack for Corel Painter. I have Corel Painter 2019 installed on both Windows 10 PC and Mac OS 10.13 High Sierra.

On Windows the install runs, but then when it finishes the brushes are no where to be found. I've searched several of the brush names on my computer (app data, programs files, common files) anywhere I could think of that they would be.

On Mac the install continue button grey's out before it even gets to the install step. So, the install won't even run.

Support has not been helpful so far. I may just have to try and get a refund, but I thought I would check here first to make sure I'm not missing something obvious.

Is anyone else having this same problem?

    Thank you ncode for posting this and Ron Y for sending everybody to contact the Painter team on facebook. I contacted them and did my own testing. This is what I found. It's a little technical but read through it. I just sent this off to Customer Support.

    Here is what I found out in my testing of the problem.
    I will refer to 2 different downloads of the Bundle.
    Original Download will refer to the digital link I received in my invoice when I first purchased the bundle on Oct 6th, 2018.
    New Download will refer to the digital link I received from you in this ticket thread.
    During testing I noticed that when the downloaded PainterUltimateBrushPackBundle.exe (Both Original Download and New Download)
    is run, it extracts a file called "Painter Ultimate Brush Pack Bundle Brush Pack.msi" along with some other .ini files into
    a temporary directory. This location is something along the lines of C:\users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Temp\{FFA82F7E-ED11-4146-899B-DB1B090ABCC4}
    Once the installation is finished it deletes the .msi and .ini files but leaves another copy of the
    PainterUltimateBrushPackBundle.exe still inside the TEMP directory. This leaves the end user with the original
    PainterUltimateBrushPackBundle.exe (In my case on the desktop) as well as the second copy in the user's TEMP directory.
    At the end of this testing I had multiple directories in my Temp directory each with a copy of PainterUltimateBrushPackBundle.exe inside.
    Now that that is out of the way, here we go.

    Windows 7 Desktop
    Original Download .exe file
    Ran PainterUltimateBrushPackBundle.exe
    Nothing happened. Looked everywhere for the new brushes and could not find them.
    I did multiple times to make sure I was doing anything wrong.

    Windows 7 Desktop
    Original Download .exe file
    Ran PainterUltimateBrushPackBundle.exe As Administrator
    Again nothing happened. Looked in online forums and saw that someone else was experiencing the same problem.
    Saw someone else post that it is quicker to contact Painter team via facebook so I did so.

    Windows 8.1 Surface Pro
    New Download .exe file
    Ran PainterUltimateBrushPackBundle.exe
    Nothing happened

    Windows 8.1 Surface Pro
    New Download .exe file
    Ran PainterUltimateBrushPackBundle.exe As Administrator
    Again nothing happened. This was when I noticed the .msi file mentioned above being created in the TEMP directory.

    So here is what I did. I ran the .exe file again and at the first prompt I went to my TEMP directory and copied the contents of the TEMP directory to my desktop.
    I copied .msi file as well as all the .ini files. I did not copy the .exe file because it was just a copy of the one I was running (the one on my desktop).

    Windows 8.1 Surface Pro
    New Download .msi file
    Ran "Painter Ultimate Brush Pack Bundle Brush Pack.msi".
    An error came up about admin rights. Interesting.

    New Download .msi file
    Ran "Painter Ultimate Brush Pack Bundle Brush Pack.msi" As Administrator.
    This is done via the command prompt.
    msiexec /a "Painter Ultimate Brush Pack Bundle Brush Pack.msi"
    Nothing happened. Until I looked closer and found that all the brush files and a smaller version of "Painter Ultimate Brush Pack Bundle Brush Pack.msi"
    was dumped into the root C:\ directory. Okay. Interesting. I deleted all the files.

    Windows 8.1 Surface Pro
    New Download .msi file
    Moved "Painter Ultimate Brush Pack Bundle Brush Pack.msi" to C:\Program Files\Corel\Painter 2019\Brushes\
    Ran "Painter Ultimate Brush Pack Bundle Brush Pack.msi" As Administrator
    Same thing. All the brushes were dumped into C:\. Okay. I copied all the brushes to C:\Program Files\Corel\Painter 2019\Brushes
    and open Painter. It works. Success!

    Now at this point I was using my Surface because I was at work and could not test out the New Download you sent me on my desktop.
    So after work I went home and took the .msi and .ini files that were extracted from the Original Download for testing.

    Ran "Painter Ultimate Brush Pack Bundle Brush Pack.msi".
    An error came up about admin rights.

    Original Downlaod .msi file
    Ran "Painter Ultimate Brush Pack Bundle Brush Pack.msi" As Administrator.
    Used the same msiexec command above.
    This time the brushes appeared in G:\ (external HD)

    Original Downlaod .msi file
    Ran "Painter Ultimate Brush Pack Bundle Brush Pack.msi" As Administrator.
    The brushes again appeared in G:\

    So I did the same thing and copied the files over to C:\Program Files\Corel\Painter 2019\Brushes\ and
    loaded Painter. Everything works.
    Please pass this information along to your team that packages your brushes so they can review and recreate the case.
    It appears that the installer is trying to install the brushes into the wrong location and since it is a root directory
    it does not have the proper permissions to. Thus it appears to the end user that nothing happened.
    This trick that I did of extracting the .msi and .ini files mid installation and running the .msi file as administration
    from the command prompt is not something that most end users would be comfortable doing. Hopefully your team can fix
    this issue and push an update for people who purchased this packages, and hopefully prevent it from happening in the future.
