With any tool selected I'm stuck with the arrow instead of the brush selected or other tools. The same with Corel Painter 2019.
I am aware that the painter team just announced Corel painter 2021 Big Sur compatibility, but I can't afford it.
I need to know if someday has the same Big Sur / Corel Painter 2020 issue, please,
and if there is a trick to avoid the issue.
something similar happened to painter 2018 and prior versions a few mac os updates ago: the UI framework broke and refused to render legacy cursor.
they never fixed it and pushed everyone affected into upgrading next year.
edit : I need to know if someone else...
I've the same problem.
Purchased Painter 2020 only a few weeks ago bundled with a few other Corel programs, and none of them seem to be working for me on my BigSur Mac.
I spoke to Corel chat a while ago and they said they "raised a ticket" and someone will get back to me, but still waiting.
It's quite something to have software rendered unusable and outdated a few weeks after buying it.
Hi. Thanks for the confirmed issue.
thought first it was my Big Sur installation who was fucked. Did a clean installation to check it with the issue remained.
by the past Corel support used to tell to upgrade to the last Painter version and that they couldn’t update each version with the annual new MacOS.
i.e MacOS Catalina / Painter 2020 (I have still a Catalina container running).
Big Sur / Painter 2021
The painter team just said on the website they are currently testing Big Sur with Painter 2021 and legacy.
i hope they will tell soon how it go for them and if Painter 2020 will have a second update. (First was Catalina compatibility).
please tell us when the support will check with you.
fingers crossed.
All the best
This is my reply from Support:
Thank you for contacting Corel Customer Support. As per your request, We are currently testing the Painter product line for compatibility with macOS Big Sur (11) and look forward to providing an update regarding support shortly. In the meantime, we recommend you to run our software on one of the versions of macOS 10.x it was designed for. There is no any time frame available for this.
