I'm using Painter 2021. It had to be reinstalled this morning by the Corel tech (after 2 hours of him working on it). I reinstalled my purchsed brushes. Among them the Rust and Sand brush pack.
After the Painter 2021 reinstallation, Rust and Sand locks up Painter. I have to use the Task Manager to exit it. I rebooted, and tried a different brush from that pack. Same thing happened.
I've used Painter more in the past 3 weeks than I have in years. I used it only for album covers. I really like using it now.
With these current issues, I'm leary about upgrading to 2022.
Can there be a problem with a single brush pack?
Thanks
Now it locks up for almost any reason. All other Apps are closed I have to use the Task Mgr to exit.

Hi Don,
What you are describing isn't typical behavior, it could represent a deeper system issue but it's hard to say without a lot of information.
But let's (for the moment) try a few things with Painter, to see if we can get to the root of the problem...
First save any work in progress you have.
Second I would backup your workspace. This can be done via Window > Workspace > Export Workspace. Save it in a safe place. This is a 'just in case' measure.
Third, let's see if Painter locks up on a 'default workspace'. Go Window > Workspace > New workspace. Give it a name (something like 'test' and under "Based On" make sure you choose "Factory Defaults" (this step is very, very important)
Fourth, go Edit > Preferences > Performance. Click "Re-run" brush accelerator.
Now close Painter.
Re-open Painter.
Try the brush...does it still lock up? Once we know this we can take the next step...
That should be a real help. Thanks
BTW, before the tech reinstalled 2021 I asked if my custom brush collections was located anywhere on my hard drive? He said no. Is there a place? I did not want to make them again.
Will this "save workspace" trick keep me from having to do that?
Since that episode, I saved my brush collections to a thumbdrive as a precaution.
It still hangs up.
Unfortunate it's still hanging up...hmm, a couple thoughts...
1. Is it all brushes in this pack, or only a specific brush? If a specific brush, can you press Ctrl+B (Cmd+B on a Mac) and tell me what you see for "Dab Type, Stroke Type, Method and Subcategory" for this brush?
2. Was the brush purchased via the Welcomebook? If so...in the 'fresh' workspace, what happens if you go Help > Restore Purchases? Does that change anything? (My curiousity here is if the brush download was somehow corrupted, and that is somehow causing your system to hang)
Yes, saving workspace (or better to export workspace) saves all brush info. Still better to export every brush library and brush category to HDD as backup to have most control for recovering brush stuff. Do same for other stuff like paper, textures, colors, custom panels, etc.
If you can, in rust and sand library, save each brush to same location again...that often resets brush and displays brush correctly in brush selection panel
