New to Painter and want to set up some templates.
W10
Painter 2021
The following are the help topic notes:
My W10 OS does not have this filepath
Grateful for any pointers.
OK. Been and had another look. The path for me is:
C:\Program Files\Corel\Painter 2021\Support Files\Templates
This is now working fine but I did have to change some permissions in the path
In theory both locations would work, but they will have different behaviors if you reset your workspace (i.e. hold shift at launch).
If you save to the AppData\Roaming\... path you are modifying your user files. If you hold shift at launch to restore factory defaults, your templates will be deleted.
If you save to the Program files folder path, you are modifying your installed files. If you hold shift at launch I'm pretty certain your templates will be maintained.
That said, in general Corel does not recommend modifying your installed files, as changes there can result in unexpected behaviors or instabilities.
A tip for accessing the AppData\Roaming path is to do these steps:
a) Open Windows File Explorer
b) In the locaiton type %appdata%
c) Press enter
d) you are at the root of the path and can browse to find AppData\Roaming\Corel\Painter 2021\Default\Templates
Hope this helps!
Thanks for the speedy response, sorry about the delay in getting back to you.
I think I'll stay with the Program files folder path option, not that I envisage doing a shift/launch.
Super thanks for the %appdata% pointer, If I ever knew this I've forgotten it.
