Just bought 2022 and am dismayed at the cursor lag. It's basically unusable. My system is far from top of the line, but it runs Painter 2021 with absolutely zero issue.
My Painter test thing was about 1400 or so, yellow. It's the same in both programs. I've got a 2019 MacBook Pro running Monterey, 8-core 2.3 Ghz i9, 16GB RAM, AMD 5500M graphics card.
No idea what's going on, but it *feels* like some new setting is off, rather than the update to Painter is just too amazing for my computer to handle.
Anyone experienced this? Any good tips for a settings tweak to get better performance? Any help would be appreciated.
Hi thedodus,
I remember seeing somewhere that another artist was able to fix this by fully uninstalling their Wacom tablet driver and then installing the latest...so...do you happen to be using a Wacom tablet?
I am! That’s interesting, I’ll give it a try and report back. Thanks!
Sadly, had no effect.
Hmm..so here's an idea to try. Hopefully you haven't customized Painter 22 much (if you have, make sure to back up your workspace, etc...), otherwise reset the application by holding shift at launch. Try it WITHOUT running the brush accelerator. Is performance now the same or better than Painter 21?
I think I fixed it actually! On a whim, I tried the "Rename the Painter user application folder and reopen Painter" thing mentioned a couple different places...and it actually seems to have worked! Thanks for your help :)
