P23 trial installed OK, runs OK; except that even in default state (including a shift restart to default) my search toolbar would find none or 1 or 2 brushes either via search term or a compatibility search such as d, wc, etc.
Wrote to Corel and reply was 'probably was from other paid for brush installs'....But, I did not install any other brushes, categories nor libraries...so wrong answer.
I played with win10 search indexer...to ensure P23 indexed = no change in P23.
Verified, in app data Corel search folder, the indexes were listed....seemed all correct.
Today I discovered, by accident, the search window only finds brushes I have selected earlier (no brush usage needed)...and holds true after a P23 close and open new again.
So I clicked on every P23 brush category....search only finds each first brush at top of list of each category.
So I picked a category and clicked on all but 1 brush....yup; search finds all but that brush in that category.
So, in my mind P23 search is broken (was similar in P22 for me)
Workaround is to tediously select every single brush in every category in every brush library intended to utilize search correctly.
Anyone else have similar problem?
Anyone find a better solution/workaround?
Anyone know how to write a script to systematically select every brush? so as to activate a correct search result?
Hi Doug, users do not need to click on every brush in order to generate search. Search should work as expected in Painter 2023.Looks like for some reason search was not generated for you. Please could you do a shift restart and set to factory settings once again. (please make sure to save your customizations if any)This should force to generate all index data for the brush search.Let us know if it does not work.
Partial fleeting success.
I did a shift open P23, default for current workspace (not all)...opened brush selector and search...voila compatibility returned many brushes as expected.
So I tried several of my custom workspaces (made from default; no imports) none of which ever had any problems...except for search failures.
Since none worked, I tried shift start again; default, current only...search did not work. I tried 3 time more of shift start; nope, still broken.
I'll try tomorrow after PC restart. I'll also try saved layouts instead of workspaces.
So search can work, but rarely for me.
Any other ideas?
Hi Doug, I can see that last year "Repair" option via add/remove helps you to fix this. Could you please try this one more time? If it does not help, could you please try to select "Reset All Workspace" upon restoring all settings to default? (Please don't forget to save/export all your custom workspaces). Let us know if it helps
Tried today, shift start P23 after "shutdown" = only yields search results for brushes selected in 2 categories and 6 brushes
So did a PC restart, then shift start P23 = same results for search
Will try reset all shift start, after save/export workspaces.
Will also try repair....but as I recall P22 in a few days failed searches and is still search broken...but will run P22 check too.
After PC shutdowns and PC restarts, I tried usual P22. Still same results: runs just fine, no "problems" EXCEPT any long ago search "fixes" have been fruitless and did not "stick" or remain permanent. Search (compatibility) on default P22 brush lib. yields 1 result, the current selected brush....see jpg.
Will work on P23 over the weekend.
