In previous versions, when you turned on visibility of a layer folder it would automatically turn on every layer in the folder. Now it doesn't. Is this supposed to be a new feature? Is there a way to change it back?
Hello,
This functionality has not changed and behaves as expected for me. When I switch on the visibility of a Group by clicking on the eye icon next to Group, all layers in the Group become visible. Are you on Windows or Mac?Have you tried closing the application and starting again? Does it still behave the same?
I would test it more... as I recall the layers on or off in a group will remain same even if you turn the visibility of a group on or off.
Make a group with several layers, some on some off. Turn group layer on and off and the layers below should remain on or off as you originally set them. The group layer function does not reset visibility of layers below settings; just turns the whole group on or off.
Hi Doug, Thank you. Yes you are correct. @carboncanyon apologies if I misunderstood your question. I was comparing Painter 2023 to Painter 2022 and the layer visibility behavior in these two versions is the same. In both, Painter 2022 and 2023, the layers that are on or off will retain their state even if group visibility is turned on or off. This behavior was introduced two versions back based on user feedback. It makes the workflow more predictable and in-line with industry standard. There is no option to revert back to old behavior. Hope this helps.
