I seem to be getting an insane amount of crashes from Painter 2023. All things considered, I've never had this much trouble with previous versions of Painter. While I generally prefer doing my professional and personal work in Painter, I'm starting to feel like I'm going to have to move my projects to Photoshop (not ideal) if I can't get this sorted soon. I'm currently running a new Mac Studio Ultra with Ventura (I did update the Ventura patch, but doesn't seem to help much with the crashing.), but had similar issues on my old intel based Mac laptop. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Hmm, 2023 is very stable on my Mac. What steps typically cause the crashes? Are you using an imported workspace? Do the crashes occur with a 'factory restored' workspace?
I'll try the 'factory restored' workspace approach. Hadn't thought of that. How would one go about restoring the workspace to factory default, correctly?
Thanks!
Think I figured out the reset. Thanks again for the recommendation! So far, thinks seem to be working well.
Ah good, glad it helped. For anyone else reading this thread, hold shift while double-clicking to launch to bring up the reset options.
I'm on PC and Painter has been very stable since 2019. But when it does crash I find it gets into a state where more crashes follow quickly. I've found that if Painter crashes and I immediately restart it tends to crash again soon. Instead, if I restart after the initial crash then exit properly, and restart again. Things seem to go better and it breaks the chain of crashing. Maybe this is all just voodoo on my part and none of this is related, but I swear it helps. ;)
