Putting together a painting that illustrates ideas like the title of this post can be a challenge because viewers place their own interpretation on the various elements in a composition. A picture may be worth a thousand words, but if the elements are misinterpreted then the picture will not communicate what the artist intended. Sometimes it may be preferable to let art articulate its message directly to the viewer via text.
The backdrop chosen for this piece is circular. The surface is covered with beveled shapes positioned around the circle in 12-degree increments dividing the surface into 30 segments. Bevels produce shadows giving the illusion of dimension. Their purpose was to frame the heart of the composition, the text.
The design was made using vector software which produced the bevel effect. The Thick Wet Impasto brush created the background texture.
Great design and fabulous brush strokes.
