Have a straightforward question. I have the X3 version and I'm seeing an ad on my screen telling me I can upgrade to the new 2019 version for $99.00. My question is if I chose to do that and the time comes for me to download the new setup file, what am I downloading?
I mean is the setup file the entire 2019 version that I install standalone or would I first have to install the older X3 version and then on top of that install the 2019 upgrade file?
It should just download the 2019 installer. Which installs as an standalone. You should not need to have X3 version installed first.
I'll do my best to help...To my knowledge you will be downloading a standalone copy of Painter 2019, which will install separately from X3. After the upgrade, X3 should function the same as before.
If there are certain customizations or content you want to use from X3, you will need to export it and import it into 2019. Since 2019 is considerably newer than X3, I would caution against importing the entire workspace, and suggest importing the specific content types you want--brushes, papers, etc--one at a time.
Hope you enjoy 2019! Interested to hear what differences you find between the two versions...
CraftyOne says it's a stand alone program. No need to install X3 first. But your reply leads me to believe X3 needs to be installed first.
Sorry for the confusion there...to my knowledge you do not need to have X3 installed.
