Hi,
It doesn't use GPU acceleration
Not on my MacBookPro 2013 with Nvidia Geforce GT 750 M 2 go + intel iris pro
Not on my Macpro 2009 16 Go Ram, SSD boot, with Ati HD 4870 500 mo
or more recent
Radeon RX 580 4 Go I just by for Corel Painter use.
The support says it is not use in case of CPU is faster than GPU but this is bullshit.
Mu trusty great but old 2,93 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon 2009
cannot be faster
than a 2017 GPU.
I think Corel does not give what it promise nowadays.
Happy new year everybody.
So far, Painter 2020 was able to leverage my GPU on my Windows 10 system with an i5 and Radeon RX570; however on my Macbook Painter decided not to leverage my Radeom M9 370X (Discreet) or my Iris Pro (integrated) so I think the i7 was the winner.
On both these systems Painter 2020 is faster than 2019 tho as there is more than just GPU improvements in the release.
@KrisLap @Aza: Are you both finding performance of 2020 the same or better than 2019?
When I tried the Painter 2020 demo, the brushes that had gpu acceleration were faster. But like Kris mentions Corel has been telling us brushes are 20x faster with each painter edition. If that was the case, then they should be much faster than past versions of painter. But they aren't. I personally don't think painter 2020 is worth the price, its not much better than 2019. If it was $50 upgrade, I'd say definitely.
If Corel wants to charge $150-$200 for upgrades then they need to start making some serious changes to the program. Other wise I can't find anything to justify the cost.
The brushes who were very GPU accelerated (from an earlier version) are the liquid ink version. they are lighting fast. they were supposed to tease what Gpu accelerated brushes will became.
i dream of a Corel painter team who would give us :
-a high end realistic brushes set, with a few amazing brushes we can’t tell from the real life ones :
-oils / watercolors / inks / conté / pencil / inks / markers
