I downloaded the trial version of Painter 2015 to consider for replacing our current version in the classroom. The first thing I noticed is the Movie menu is gone! A student of mine who bought the 2015 version also mentioned it was gone on her computer.
I looked at the Painter 2015 documentation and it still shows a workflow of using the Movie menu for animation purposes. 2015 doesn't open .FRM files either.
Did Painter completely abandon the animation functions of its program? Would anyone know if they just moved the movie functions? Or maybe this is major bug when running Painter on Macs?
Any insight would be appreciated!
The movie functions are still in 2015 afaik
Movie is for Windows only for the time being I believe. I think that the Mac 64bit implementation did not/could not go quite as far as that feature but hopefully it will some time soon.
Joe is correct. Movie is currently only available for Windows users. I believe it's addition to the Mac 64 bit version is still being planned.
Thanks everyone for the replies. It saves me a lot of time looking for something that is no longer there.
Crazy that they'd abandon a full feature that has been available for Macs for years without making that absolutely clear in the purchasing information. I was ready to purchase 30 seats and we would have been stuck! I feel bad for my student who purchased 2015 and cannot do her independent study project with it.
I just don't buy the whole 64bit issue. Corel X3 has the movie function and it works fine on 64bit Macs. More likely this is sloppy updating and realeasing a version that is not ready.
Very poor performance on Corel's part. We'll stick with Adobe products for our animation program.
