I just attempted to use the image warp tool and it doesn't appear to work.
1) Open a jpg as new image on canvas
2) Select the canvas layer
3) Select Window --> Effects --> Surface Control - Image Warp
4) Attempt to drag the image around
Nothing happens. Does it work for anyone?
Hi wpeters1, worked for me as well...hmm...when you drag in the image, you should see a circular marquee expand from the initial point that you click to the last point that you click. A quick way to check is to try in the center of the image and drag out to about 1/2 the size of the image. If that works you can undo and start warping where you want to...
Thanks for those replies. When the small image warp dialogue box opens, leaving the parameters at default I click the image (canvas) and drag with the mouse cursor but nothing at all happens, no circular marquee or anything. Well almost nothing, for a very brief fraction of a second the cursor timer icon appears and then disappears. I wish there was a video I could watch to make sure I’m not doing anything wrong. It seems straight forward though, I’m following the help file step by step.
Sounds like you're doing the steps correctly, so maybe it's another issue, hard to say. I have a couple more questions:
-did you import a workspace from a previous version of Painter? If so, there's a chance that could be causing the issue, so I would recommend resetting the 2021 workspace (hold shift at launch, choose 'restore all settings to factory defaults) and "reseat all workspaces" which will loose all customizations) and try it again. If it works, we can talk about other ways to get your custom content into the program
-did you try with both a mouse and a stylus? I'd be curious if it works with with a different input device
-does Effects > Focus > Camera Motion Blur work? It's 'kinda similar' in some ways, curious if it works as well.
